Home stretch. Six weeks plus finals. That’s all that’s left of the 2011/12 school year.

Many of you have found your ZIM. Some through AMP, some through TAG, and some through simply participating each day.

However, some of you remain apathetic. But the disconnected ones—the flatliners—though a visible presence in every class, are fewer in number than in year’s past.

Let’s cut that number by a few more today

Here’s the deal: Read the Code of Honor.

I’m serious. Read the Code of Honor and consider, really consider how each statement might apply to you.

Be a hero in your own life. Stand up and decide to try.

Everyone: Write a Week 32 blog post today reflecting on the Code of Honor and how it affects your plans for the next six weeks (and beyond).

Arts, Media, and Entertainment Pathway

9th Graders: If you’d like to join the AME Pathway, leave a comment saying so. You’ll have Photo next year then Digital Arts and Multimedia in your junior and senior years. Plus cool field trips and other perks. I’ll get the forms to you.

10th Graders: About 20 of you asked about AME but only seven have returned forms. Still interested? I need names for a meeting Wednesday morning. If you haven’t returned a form, leave a comment today to guarantee your spot in Digital Arts (next year) and Multimedia (the year after).

11th Graders: Leave a comment if you want to return to the Mac Lab next year. The non-AME classes will over-fill early and I might be able to help you make the cut.

12th Graders: Finish strong.

Kudos: It was necessary for Philip B to finish modifying this year’s API poster by Friday afternoon. Alums Kyle Wheaton and Christopher Canel helped too. Deadline met and another rockin’ API poster in the books. Great job. Thanks, guys!

District Art Show: Our 10 entries must be turned in next Monday. Will your work make the cut?

MLSS: Yes, there’s a Mac Lab Saturday School™ this weekend (6:30 – 12:00).

The Avengers: Since I’m getting asked a lot, yes, I saw it. And yes, I loved it. Even my wife loved it and she doesn’t like superhero movies. Josh Whedon nailed it! Will see it again just to see the Hulk’s response to Loki’s disdain. Possibly the best 30 seconds in any movie ever made.

0509: Crazy morning working on projects for admin then meeting with CTE. I’m now at a district meeting. Be good for the sub (or you’ll pay the price).

CS6: The computers without the apps had kids on them every period. I’ll get to them after school today and tomorrow morning. And will repeat as necessary until all are equipped. …Except maybe number 10 (see comments). 😛

0510: After a very early morning, CS6 is on all the computers. Well, all except number 10.*


If I missed one, tell me. Oh, and Photoshop CS6 doesn’t work on 18, 23, and 34 (the other apps work fine). The beta problem poisoned that install. If I can’t find a solution, it’ll be fixed when I re-image the computers… next year. Just sit at another computer if you want to use Photoshop CS6. You still have CS5 and it works fine.

MLSS: Mac Lab Saturday School™ is this weekend from 6:30 – 12:00. After this, only three remain: May 19, June 9, and 16.

0511: A teacher in Oregon sent me a link to 3D Game Lab. Boise State University has more than a blue football field to be proud of and TAG looks to be moving in the right direction. I’ll try to snag that blocked video from YouTube to show you but it loads in bursts (small chunks) so it might be a bit difficult. I’ll give it a shot.

MLSS: Mac Lab Saturday School™ is tomorrow from 6:30 – 12:00. After this, only three remain: May 19, June 9, and 16.
