| step 1: Here's an instance of a bit of text that I've converted to a button. Move your mouse across the text and notice how the button's Over state is only activated when the cursor is directly over the text. (Figure A) Quite inconvinient! | ||||

| step 2: Double-Click on the instance to edit it (the Over and Down states have already been set for you). Click on the Hit state, Insert > Blank Keyframe (F7), click on the Onion Skin icon (so you can see the text), and use the Rectangle Tool (as shown) to draw the Hit state for the button.
