| step 2: Select your object, F8 to Convert to Symbol, set Behavior to Graphic, and name your symbol. (Figure B) | ||||
| B | ||||
| step 3: Select the instance and nudge it into position with the arrow keys. Select frame 40 and F6 to Insert > Keyframe. Control-Click on the first keyframe and select Create Motion Tween. (Figure C) | ||||
| C | ||||
| step 4: Insert > Keyframes in frames 10, 20, and 30 by either Control-Clicking or F6-ing. (Figure D) | ||||
| D | ||||
| step 5: Select keyframes and reposition the instance (nudging when necessary) as shown. (Figure E) | ||||
| E | ||||
| •Tip: It's much easier to nudge with the arrow keys than to try and position accurately with the Move Tool. For pixel-level placement, use the Info Palette (Command-I). | ||||
| step 6: Command-Return to Test Movie. Notice the slight pause when the ball returns to the left side. (Figure F) | ||||
| F | ||||
| step 7: Insert > Keyframe (F6) in frame 39. Select frame 40 and Insert > Remove Frames (Shift-F5) to eliminate the pause from the animation. (Figure G) | ||||
| G | ||||
| •Tip: Contol-Clicking on Frame 40 would also give you the contextual menu with the option to Remove Frames. | ||||
| step 8: Command-Return to check your work. (Figure H) | ||||

| step 9: Now we'll have a refresher course in Editing Instances in the next tutorial: Tween Effects. | ||||
