| step 1: Open your slideshow and Control > Test Movie (Command-Return). Your project will look different than the one shown below. (Figure A) | ||||

| step 2: Debug > Customize to test and see if this file needs a preloader. Change User Setting 4 to 19200 (4 times the speed of a 56k modem). (Figure B) | ||||

| step 3: View > Bandwidth Profiler to see if any bars on the graph are above the red line. Examine the rest of the information. The file size is almost 500 KB. We'll talk about this in class but it appears that we definitely need a preloader. (Figure C) | ||||

| step 4: Debug > User Setting 4 to select our custom modem and View > Show Streaming to see a simulation of how long it would take for the file to download at the specified rate. Click the next slide button repeatedly as the file downloads. Do you begin to see the problem? (The button's there but the next slide may have not downloaded so the SWF may appear to be broken.) | ||||
