Inserting Images

In this lesson you will learn how to insert images (your .jpg files) into HTML documents via Dreamweaver

Double-click on 02.html (or other file) in your Site Window to open it

Click on the Insert Image icon (or navigate to Insert > Image)

The shortcut is Option-Command-I (try it)

In the Select Image Source dialog box, navigate to your images folder (in the art folder) and Open the image you want to use

And your image is inserted

To set the image as a link you can use one of the two following methods

With the image selected, click on the Browse for File icon

And open the appropriate file

Or you can use the Point to File (easier once you're used to it)

With your image selected, press F8 to bring your Site Window to the foreground

Resize the Site Window if necessary so that it sits just above the Property Inspector (this won't work if there's a gap)

Click and drag to the appropriate file

Using either method makes the link

Note: This works for text as well

You still need to set the Alternate Text

Use a descriptive phrase to help the sight-impaired or those surfing with images turned off

Name your document and save your work

Congratulations! You now know how to insert images into HTML documents

Repeat as necessary and see the insert rollover tutorial (if you haven't already)
