Dreamweaver Preference Settings
In order for Dreamweaver to play nice with Fireworks you must make the following adjustments to the program's preferences
Launch Dreamweaver and navigate to Edit >
Preferences... (Command-U)
The Preferences dialog box opens
Make sure your General Preferences are set as above
Click on File Types / Editors
Note: Your window will differ in that Fireworks 4 will be listed as an option
To remove Fireworks 4 from the list, click on it to select it and then click on the minus (-) button
Note: Since I no longer have Fireworks 4 on this computer I used Photoshop as an example
If Fireworks MX is not listed as your primary editor, click Make Primary to make it so
Repeat for .gif and .jpg extensions
To save time when we begin to work with Flash, set Flash MX for .fla and .swf extensions
Hit Return or click OK
That's it!
If you haven't changed Fireworks' Preferences, do so now.
