MX Defining Your Site
You only have to do this once, but it must be done EXACTLY as explained below
As you know, when you launch Dreamweaver, someone else's files show up Now you'll configure Dreamweaver to recognize and keep track of your files (Don't worry, I know you don't have any files yet)
Near the top of the Site Window (below) there is a pull-down menu for Site: valhalla (yours will say something different)
Click on it and you see all the sites that have been defined on your computer
Since yours has yet to be defined, you need to click on Edit Sites... to add yours to the list
Click on New...
Your Site Name must be in the form shown below 02 represents your class period—if I were in fifth period I would type: 05_mike_skocko You, of course will use your own name (with no caps, spaces, or special characters)
Then click on the icon for Local Root Folder
The Local Root Folder is just a weird name Dreamweaver uses for the folder that will hold all of your Website's files
>>> Make sure you get this next step right
Navigate to your folder and click New to create a new folder inside your period folder
Name the folder with your first and last names as shown and click Create
Don't Open the folder you just created, Choose it
And your Site Definition window should look like this one
Be sure those two boxes are checked before you click OK
Click Done and...
You did it!
Next time you launch Dreamweaver and someone's files are in the Site window, click and select yours
And that's it
