Dreamweaver MX Your First Page

If your site isn't visible and you don't remember how to find it, look here for the answer

Okay, Control-click on your folder (hold down the Control key and click as shown)

This is the same as a right-click on a PC

Select New File from the contextual menu that pops up

As you see, a new Dreamweaver file, ready to be renamed, appears

I don't like to type .html so I highlight untitled and...

Type index, hit Return, and double-click on the index.html icon as shown

Note: if you accidentally type ,html or .htnl or forget the extension altogether your file won't work

That's another reason I just leave the extension there

Anyway, your first blank HTML document opens

Notice how the Properties Panel changed (it's contextual—it changes to reflect the active tool/selection)

Notice how the document window should fit your work area

Note: You can (and should) make your document window wider than the one shown above

Note: You will have more vertical room—my document is shortened to keep screenshots smaller

Don't do anything to the page yet because there's an important step coming right up

Next up: Inserting a Table
