Dreamweaver MX Naming Conventions

 

Setting up (and maintaining) your workspace will help you avoid "a big mess" (and a bad grade)

But naming your files correctly is far more important when dealing with HTML

 

Do you notice anything odd about the names you see in this Site Window?

Do you see ANY capital letters?

Do you see ANY spaces between words?

Do you see ANY odd characters (i.e. !@#$%^&*()+;:' etc.)?

 

Yes, the underscore (_) is used_to_separate_words

Yes, every file MUST have the proper extension (such as .html)

No, folders do not have extensions

 

Your Dreamweaver documents must ALWAYS end in .html and NEVER contain spaces, caps, or special characters

(When we begin to work with templates I'll explain the .dwt extension)

 

No, these rules do not apply to text you will be typing inside the document
