Dreamweaver MX Creating Links with Text

Double-click on your shortcut page icon in the Site Window

Do NOT click and drag to select these words

You do NOT want to highlight any spaces before or after the names

Double-click on Home to select it then press F8 to bring your Site Window to the foreground

You may need to expand the Internet Explorer window to watch the following movie

Click and drag (without letting up on the mouse) from the Point to File icon to index.html

CLICK ARROW TO PLAY MOVIE

When you let go of the mouse button the document window returns to the foreground with link in place

If you accidentally drag to the wrong file just try again

Double-click on the word About (but don't let up on the mouse after the second click) then drag across this and Site

As you reach the first letter of the next word the entire word is highlighted

Once again, this method insures you do not accidentally highlight a space before and/or after the name

F8 to bring the Site Window to the foreground then click and drag to the correct file

Notice that the Link text box in the Properties Panel confirms the results of the Point to File action

Double-click and drag to select About Me and press F8

Use Point to File to set your link

Repeat until you've set all your links

Now we need those links on the rest of the pages

How 'bout we use a shortcut?

Select all the text links (including the space after 03) and copy them (Command-C)

Save your file and close it

Now the link info is safe in memory (unless you Command-C or quit before using it
