Organizing Your
Workspace
In this lesson you will learn how to organize your workspace.
Note: In
future lessons we will begin to use other panels. For now...
- Launch Dreamweaver
- If your Site Window
isn't open, navigate to Window > Site Files

See the shortcut?
Think of it as your FATE (F8)
to work from the Site Window
And do you see the check marks next to Objects
and Properties?
These three windows are always open when you work in Dreamweaver
Always
You might as well get used to it
I will harp on this relentlessly
If your Objects Panel and/or Property
Inspector isn't/aren't open, open it/them now
Your work area should be arranged something very similar to this:
Note: The files within your Site
Window will be different from those shown
(What matters
is the position of the windows)

The Objects Panel is always positioned
at the upper left corner of the screen
The Property Inspector is always
positioned at the bottom of the screen
(They're both grayed out because no document
is open at present)
The Site Window is always positioned
at the top of the screen just to the right of the Objects
Panel
Always
You should never manually close either the Objects
Panel or the Property Inspector
Never
- When you launch a document,
it should open in the exact same place each time
Like the Site Window, it fits just to
the right of of the Objects Panel and
just above the Property Inspector
It can (and should) be wider than shown below

- Too much instructional
time is wasted on students who fail to heed this simple request
Please understand that it is very difficult to design Web pages if these
windows aren't open
Help both of us by playing along with this one and I'll respond when you
ask for help
If you choose to ignore this request...
Any questions?
